Introduction: With the January 2010 issue the International Bulletin of Missionary Research, in the words of editor Jonathan J. Bonk, turned “a conceptual corner” when it was transformed into “an online journal—freely accessible to all—with a published print option available for paying subscribers.” With this strategic transition, he noted, “the scholarly research for which the IBMR is well-known now becomes freely available to readers around the world, even those whose economic circumstances do not permit them the luxury of a subscription.” All back issues of the International Bulletin of Missionary Research (1981–present), the Occasional Bulletin of Missionary Research (1977–80), and the Occasional Bulletin from the Missionary Research Library (1950-76) may be downloaded or read online as PDF files for those who register without cost. The most recent issues are also made available online as HTML files. Heritage: The IBMR is the largest circulation scholarly mission research journal. Established 1950 by R. Pierce Beaver as Occasional Bulletin from the Missionary Research Library. Named Occasional Bulletin of Missionary Research in 1977. Renamed International Bulletin of Missionary Research in 1981.
